| Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Campaigner for
the New Forest, Brian Dash, has added his weight to calls
for local homes to be designated with a special postcode,
reflecting a New Forest identity.
Brian
Dash, a Hampshire County Councillor, says "People
who live in New Forest towns like Totton, Marchwood, Hythe,
Fawley & Lyndhurst want a New Forest postcode. Although
they have nothing against Southampton, they are proud to
live in an area distinct from the city. The Royal Mail should
recognise the strength of opinion and be prepared to change
the current postcodes."
Councillor
Dash has received a number of letters and postcards from
people who support such a change. He adds "Now,
more than ever, we need to protect the true identity of New
Forest towns, especially those on the edge of the new National
Park. Having a distinct postcode will help towards this aim".
