Brian at Hythe Market |
Visiting Hythe market recently, Prospective Parliamentary Candidate,
Brian Dash, expressed his support for its continued growth.
Brian
said: "The
market is an essential part of Hythe village life;
it defines it as a market town, and brings people to the
area, past our shops. boosting the local economy.
The market, which is held on Tuesdays in the car park opposite
The Grove, is an amenity for local people, especially when
looking for bargains, there is a wide variety of stalls and
at prices people can afford.
Having a market doesn't threaten the livelihood of our shops,
and having spoken to shoppers, they value their market.
Sometimes,
people just need reminding that there is a market in Hythe,
and that the core clientele, which helps to sustain it
needs a regular injection of new shoppers to help it expand;
as more people use the market, more stalls will become
available, which in turn ensures that the market thrives
and continues to be a success."

Joint
market managers, Gary Brown and Tim Mitchell, agree with Brian,
and with Christmas just around the corner, trade has started
to increase again; nevertheless they would welcome new shoppers
who may not be aware of what Hythe market has to offer.
Cllr Maureen McLean, pictured with Brian and the Hythe market
managers, lends her support by being one
of its regular weekly shoppers. |
