| Brian at the naming the Dead Ceremony |
Liberal
Democrat Parliamentary Campaigner, Brian Dash, lent his
support to a special event held in Brockenhurst this week.
As darkness descended on Waters Green, local people gathered
to attend a special "Naming The Dead" ceremony
- recalling the thousands of people that have lost their
lives in the Iraq conflict. Brian Dash was invited to read names for a 15 minute stint.
This was a small contribution to a ceremony that went on
late into the night - a very sober reminder of the true cost
of the war in Iraq.
Liberal Democrats were the only major party to oppose the
war in Iraq, on the grounds that no action should have been
taken without proper United Nations approval, real doubts
about the intelligence reports suggesting an immediate threat
from weapons of mass destruction, no proper plan to deal
with the post-war situation and the loss of lives that are
an inevitable consequence of war.
