Brian with Hampshire Police Officers |
Brian
Dash, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Campaigner for the New
Forest, has just completed a patrol with Hampshire Police.
Brian decided that it would be a good idea to spend some
time observing the work of our local police force by accompanying
an officer in a squad car in the Waterside from 9pm until
3am.
During the shift, Brian was involved in a series of incidents,
including a high speed dash with blue lights when the officer
was called to deal with an outbreak of violent behaviour
in a Lymington town centre.
They also attended two road traffic
accidents, one involving serious injuries, requiring the
services of the fire brigade and ambulance.
Brian,
reporting on his adventures, said "I
saw, at first hand, how quickly the emergency services
all swing into action when needed.
Although the way we
are taxed to pay for these services is unfair, there can
be no doubt we get fantastic value from them in terms of
dedication and professionalism.
I also learned that, surpisingly,
while we are asleep it is very likely that a police car
has passed close to our door." |
