Simon Hughes MP - cuts the ribbon |
"A giant leap forward" - that was the assessment of Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman, Brian Dash, as the new headquarters for the New Forest Party was opened in Rumbridge Street, Totton today.
Party President, Simon Hughes MP, was on hand to cut the yellow ribbon and declare the new office officially open, joined by Lib Dem MEP, Chris Huhne.
The Liberal Democrats have very high hopes of winning the New Forest East Constituency at the next General Election. Totton is the largest of the New Forest towns. Eight of the Ten District Councillors in Totton are Liberal Democrats and Totton & Eling Town Council is also controlled by the party.
Campaigns Manager, David Harrison, says "Having our own office will help co-ordinate our campaigning activity. It is sends out the strongest possible message that the Lib Dems are the only realistic challenge to the sitting Tory MP in this area".
