Former MEP Roy Perry is obviously not up to speed on Hampshire County Council's Budget issues.

He implies that the proposed 3.5 per cent increase is somehow altruistic. He thinks that people should be grateful for the kind tories only putting tax up by a bit more than prices despite a generous funding settlement from goverment.

The Conservatives are cynical because they spend two years overtaxing Hampshire people, salted the money away in "grant equalisation" account and are taking money out to enable a lower council tax in an election year.
